About My Clients
I work with clients who may not have time for long-term, weekly therapy appointments. Couples and parents seeking solutions to their relationship issues. For parents: My approach with children and teens is one that includes the parents in the counseling. I respect and honor the fact that you know your child best and that you are their best advocate. You will not be shut out of the process. My goal is to strengthen the connection between you and your child while we work on the issues.
My Background and Approach
Offering marriage/couples intensives. Weekend appointments that include a five-hour intensive (with a break!) and then four weeks of follow up, weekly sessions. This allows couples counseling to be effective in far less time than traditional weekly therapy. I use my education in marriage and family therapy as well as training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to move couples from distress and anger to hope, connection and healing of the issues that are causing stress in their relationship. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am always striving to find new and creative ways to use multiple therapy models to create a program that can give clients results in less time than traditional therapy. My goal is to help you resolve the struggles that brought you in and help you move to a place of not needing therapy -as quickly as possible. I studied chemical dependency counseling followed by an undergrad degree in psychology. I went to graduate school where I earned a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy - with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Family Therapy. I completed a rigorous grad school internship at Attachment and Trauma Specialists, specializing in treating kids with attachment disorders and other behavior issues. I have been working in social service since 2003, working with families and adolescents in drug treatment programs, youth shelters and housing service programs as well as an adolescent residential mental health program.
