About My Clients
Whether this is your first experience with counseling or you are well-seasoned in the ways of talk therapy, I'm glad you are exploring the idea. If you are working through things like depression, anxiety, trauma, body image issues, relationship concerns, general dissatisfaction with life, or numerous other bumps in the road, counseling can and will help.
My Background and Approach
I am trained to help sort through the ways of the brain. The emotions, sensations, thoughts, memories, feelings, and instincts. I primarily work with adults and adolescents using theories which all sound like tests you take to get into college: ACT, DBT, CBT. These are scientifically proven ways approaches to benefit clients: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also utilize Person Centered and Feminist Theory. Above all of that, I believe in helping you live your authentic life using well-tested skills.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I completed my MA in Counseling at UMKC. I have worked in community mental health, domestic violence, residential facilities, and private practice. I worked with a wide variety of clients, including Black, LGBTQIA+, Asian, and Latine. I operate under a Health at Any Size mindset and believe in fat liberation. I place significance on the sociopolitical issues which impact individual experience and focus on anti-oppression.
