About My Clients
I work with people to improve self-esteem, set healthy boundaries, manage stress & anxiety as well as anyone who is healing from any type of loss who are motivated to make changes to unhealthy patterns. I also enjoy helping people during seasons of transition whether in young adulthood to increase independence or later years to adjust to decrease in independence resulting from illness, injury or the aging process. I especially enjoy working to provide faith-based counseling & support.
My Background and Approach
I've worked in the field of Social work for 35 years with 27 years being in outpatient mental health. I have worked with people from various socio-economic, racial & ethnic backgrounds & in a variety of systems including education, hospitals, foster care, home-based for youth in both DCS or juvenile justice system, community mental health centers, hospice, & private practice clinics. My approach is to provide a warm & inviting place that you can openly express your thoughts & feelings. The intake session (60 mins) is used to gather an overview of your background & develop a plan on what goal you want to address first. Follow up sessions (55 mins) are guided by you to discuss anything that's relevant to the goal & plan. I will provide honest & sincere feedback, handouts, information & homework in-between sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I consider my work a ministry, so I treat everyone I meet with respect, kindness & genuine concern. I am a second generation Asian Indian & have found that people of color tend to gravitate toward me & express a sense of acceptance. I keep in mind that I am in your life to support that specific season in your life's journey. I believe that people may have one or many episodes of therapy depending on what curveballs life throws your way. I consider all people to be equal in value & only hope to provide an objective perspective that leads you to your full potential of improved mental & emotional wellness.
