About My Clients
My experience as an immigrant to the US has supported me to develop a deeper understanding of the problems involved with life transitions, adaptation problems, identity concerns, distress, self-esteem, and trauma. I love working with people of all ages, but I am particularly passionate about working with women.
My Background and Approach
I am a psychotherapist with ten years of experience. My approach integrates client-centered therapy interventions, mindfulness, and body-oriented therapy techniques. I like to hold a respectful, compassionate, safe space, free of judgment that allows the individual their personal growth and supports their healing processes. I also have experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have been trained as a trauma-informed therapist and in Dance and Movement Therapy. I am also a Yoga instructor and practitioner, implementing some of my skills to provide relief from high levels of stress, anxiety, and emotional and psychological distress in individuals. I received my master’s degree in psychotherapy from ITESO and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Matatipac in Mexico. I have experience in non-profit organizations, and in private practice working with the Latino community in Chicago.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
For me, our emotional experience is intrinsically dependent on our body experience and vice versa; therefore, addressing mental health-related issues requires a body-based approach. Considering this, I like to provide a safe space to the client, which allows them to experience healing and self-discovery through compassion and a judgment free environment.
