About My Clients

You feel overwhelmed by stress and sometimes it's impossible to just stop thinking. Maybe you find yourself coping in unhealthy ways that you find aren't working for you anymore. You might have repetitive thoughts like "I can’t do this. I'll fail. I’m an awful person. I’ll never be good enough. I'm hopeless.” Thoughts like these are powerful and very common for anyone experiencing anxiety, but it's exhausting being your own worst enemy. It's almost impossible to relax when your mind is racing.

My Background and Approach

My goal as a therapist is to help my clients find new ways to cope with intrusive, negative thoughts that seem impossible to control. Negative thoughts have a source which is usually a deep, negative belief about the self. I assist my clients realize their strengths and create new, more positive beliefs about themselves. These new beliefs can allow you to see challenges with a new perspective and by recognizing your own strengths. I aim to help my clients find ways of solving their own problems, independently, by gaining confidence in their own abilities. My approach has developed from several years of working as a substance abuse therapist and helping my clients find healthier coping skills. I have also worked as a family therapist for teenagers with behavioral issues and I believe that a person's environment and support network influence their behaviors. My approach integrates CBT, mindfulness, and holistic methods. My main goal is to provide the space to feel heard and understood.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am motivated to help you realize your own strengths and to accept yourself for who you are. I am also very honest and can provide a different perspective to the problems that you want to talk about. One of my goals is focus on self-care and how important it is to prioritize your own needs. As an undergrad student, I worked as a hotline counselor for parents who were under stress and seeking help for their children. I learned through that job and in my work with families, that parents who prioritized their needs and self-care had more energy to attend to their family's needs. The challenges that I have faced in my own life influenced my decision to be a therapist. What I have learned in and out of the classroom is that each of use has inherent strengths that have been formed by our experiences. My main goal is to help you realize your own.
