About My Clients
I am passionate about serving clients identifying as LGBTQIA+ and allies with a focus in working with needs such as ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Trauma-Related Disorders, and Life Transitions through my role as a therapist at Colors+ Counseling. With inclusivity being a driving force of my agency, I hope to provide a safe place for clients to open up.
My Background and Approach
I take a Person-Centered approach when working with my clients to ensure their voices are being heard as well as taking from the Acceptance Commitment Therapy Model (ACT) to help clients find peace with their emotions rather than fighting them and work towards better awareness of thoughts and coping skills. I am a certified Therapeutic Game Master as well, meaning I utilize table-top roleplaying games in sessions to help clients strengthen social skills and navigation with life challenges. I have worked in both a foster care and community mental health setting previously and am used to working with a diverse background of clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
With a close connection to the queer and neurodivergent community, I believe in the importance of tailoring therapeutic environments to best meet the specific needs faced by theses clients with a history of exclusion and lack of foresight in services offered. I have and still love any chance I get to be involved with geek culture events with conventions, renaissance fairs, etc. because I love the freedom that comes with getting to have fun with costumes and interactions in a welcoming space for play. With my therapeutic role-play interventions intertwined with treatment goals, I want to help clients discover the version of themselves that they keep hidden and embrace their strengths through character creation and storytelling.
