About My Clients
Are you between the ages of 18-65 yo and struggling with anxiety, depression, or finding balance? I understand no two individuals are the same, and I tailor our sessions together to address challenges unique to you. I will work together to understand the root cause of your struggles and address them with long-lasting strategies, helping you get closer to the life you’ve always wanted. In order to maximize your success, you will have to work outside of sessions on things we discuss in session.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been practicing therapy for over eight years. I am a North Carolina native who earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2007 and earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. I have worked in various settings: hospitals, public schools and community mental health agencies facilitating individual and group counseling. My goal is to collaboratively empower you by building a non-judgmental and supportive environment with authenticity and sincerity. My goal is to cultivate an compassionate environment where you feel heard, valued, supported, and safe to allow vulnerability and honesty in session. I work from a client-centered and holistic approach. Together we will strive to build coping strategies and tools to empower you to take the steps necessary to take back control of your life and be your best self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I do not try to "fix" anyone because I do not believe people are something to "fix". Instead, I believe we need to focus on building more effective skills to be able to communicate our needs, have better distress tolerance skills and be able to be in the present moment and be a driver in the life we have, instead of a passenger. I support the rights of the LGBTQIA community, #BlackLivesMatter, #StopAsianHate. I am one who is accepting of all no matter sexual identity, gender expression or relationship dynamic. As your therapist, I also need to practice what I preach and am frequently assessing what I need to have a better work/life balance to be present for my family.
