About My Clients
You want to move on but your past continues to affect your present. Painful experiences show up when you least expect them and overwhelm your body. You feel like your life has been hijacked and everything is completely out of control. You crave intimacy but fear it even more. You're scared and alone, and all of your energy is spent on this beast. But simply surviving isn't an option anymore! You won't allow this to continue. You want to feel safe in your body. Connected to others. I can help !
My Background and Approach
You don't have to live a life trapped by your symptoms. I know that reaching out can be super scary. It makes sense given your past experiences. But you deserve to be free from pain. And online therapy makes it easier than ever. All you have to do is open your laptop, pop in some earbuds, and curl up someplace cozy. If you prefer in-person, I've got a pretty comfy couch & an easy-to-find office. I'm here to help. My approach has been described as compassionate, warm, and a tad bit playful. We might cry a bit, too, but together we will work through the intense feelings safely and nonjudgmentally. I utilize EMDR, attachment theory, and somatic therapies to help you recognize symptoms in your body, identify emotions, and process unresolved memories.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Each of us is born with a natural drive toward connection, security, and stability. I believe that many mental health symptoms arise as a result of experiencing tremendous aloneness in the face of unbearable emotions. I am experienced in providing therapy to clients in an inpatient substance use treatment setting and welcome those struggling with substance use or active recovery. I'm a therapist who loves cats, dogs, horses, and all things animals! Animals are amazing creatures that help calm our nervous systems and aid in healing. Yoga informs a lot of the work I do with clients. I practice daily and have found it to be pivotal in anxiety reduction.
