You feel stuck and ready for a change. Maybe you’re tired of feeling stressed and anxious. Perhaps your loved ones have noticed your anxiety, irritability, or how you talk badly about yourself. Maybe you've been called a "people pleaser" and know you should stand up for yourself, but you don’t know how. You're stuck in an unhealthy cycle. The things that normally take your mind off aren't working anymore. You're ready to break free and make a change.
My Background and Approach
My approach is holistic, humanistic, and existential, and I apply empathy, humor, and solution-based techniques to increase awareness and normalize experiences. You are not alone in your suffering. I tailor my counseling to your unique needs, from trauma-informed care to creative expressive art therapy, and positive solution-based approaches. I am an artist, and a former art teacher, so I tend to bring creativity, imagination, compassion, empathy, inclusiveness, and a lot of lived experience into the session. During our time together, you are in charge, and I am walking the path with you. The space is non-judgmental and safe. You cannot offend me. To help out, I might use metaphors, descriptive language, and visualizations, and, if you like, we can experiment with expressive art techniques. These techniques help express thoughts and feelings, so we might draw, journal, practice mindfulness, use movement or music, and investigate new research in neuroscience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I help teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety and tough life transitions. You are not alone in the darkness. I believe empathy, insight, compassion, humor, and creativity can help us navigate life's toughest moments. I bring a wealth of lived experiences into our sessions, and I am experienced in trauma-informed care and grief, and use creative solution-focused, and strength-based approaches in my practice. I provide authentic and compassionate therapy, with a focus on finding what's working right and challenging things that aren't.
