About My Clients
We may be a good fit if you are looking for insightful direction through active dialogue (not just another listening ear). While listening, I will give you that information back to confront the automatic thoughts, behavior patterns, and internalized implicit biases that are keeping you stuck.
My Background and Approach
I see myself as the expert on psychology and you are the ONLY expert on YOU. Together, we'll work to find your unique formula for living more authentically. We can accomplish this by a combination of talking about it, as well as using somatic techniques [like EMDR] to reprocess trauma stuck in the body. I am dually credentialed in School and Clinical psychology with Health Service Endorsement. I completed six additional years of training (after four years of undergrad), including a residency in Family Medicine. I am entering my 11th year of independent practice since finishing my doctorate, and I have gotten into a good rhythm of applying my experience of known strategies while treating each person as a unique individual.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a neurodivergent, cis, QBIPOC therapist managing multiple chronic conditions, I know all too well how complex life experiences can dramatically change your ideal plans. It seems like ever since providers figured out that the mind-body are connected, many treat all ails as caused by a mental health problem or "anxiety." What is even more infuriating is the ableist recommendation to therapy your way out of the pain. I pay special attention to holistic medical considerations and their impact on mental health (e.g., hypermobility, hormones, toxic exposure, nutrition, allergies, etc.). Likewise, I often refer to niche specialties for supportive treatment when traditional methods have not been successful.
