About My Clients
I work with adults and adolescents facing symptoms of anxiety and mood disorders. I also specialize in working with the perinatal population. My clients are often facing negative self-talk, challenges in self-worth, feelings of overwhelm and incapacity. I work with my clients to improve emotional regulation, enhance interpersonal relationships, build self-awareness and self-compassion, increase a sense of meaning and joy in life, and improve overall quality of life.
My Background and Approach
I have a history of working with adolescents in a school based setting and working with adults in an outpatient hospital setting. My work across the generations and across the spectrum of mental illness has allowed me insight to various therapeutic modalities. I believe that there must be a collaboration of mindfulness, client-centered work, self-awareness, and a focus on values to have a successful therapeutic experience. I lean into the ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) modality and enjoy helping clients learn to defuse from negative thinking styles, accept and find willingness for the discomforts in life, and live in a way where values can guide toward meaningful and significant relationships and experiences. I also have a few years of working specifically with the perinatal population to help with the various transitions in family planning. I am also a board-approved supervisor for Social Workers in Texas and enjoy promoting the growth and betterment of my field of work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe strongly in the ethics and values of the social work field. I work to uphold the core values of the six social work values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of a person, importance of relationships, integrity, and competence. I can get very fired up in my personal life about social justice! I also believe that no person's worth should be measured or judged by someone other than themself and I want people to believe in themselves. I was drawn to the counseling world at a young age and found my place in Social Work because it expands from mental illness or mental wellness practices and focuses on equality, justice, integrity and building a stronger and more unified social world.
