From the outside it probably looks like you’re “keeping it all together,” but inside you are struggling with intense shame, self-judgment, and sadness. You describe yourself as “Type-A” in a joking way, but the reality is your constant need to be productive, busy, and organized causes you daily suffering. You don’t have to stay stuck where you are forever.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a flexible framework of mindful self-compassion practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT). I am currently working towards further certification in RO-DBT, which is an evidence-based treatment for conditions characterized by excessive over-control. In our work together, we will focus on building self-compassion and clarifying a truer sense of self. At the same time, we’ll explore and practice skills to decrease the impact anxious thoughts and perfectionism have on your daily life and relationships. With time and practice, you will feel empowered to face your anxiety with compassion, openness, and maybe even a bit of irreverence.
