About My Clients
My ideal client is an individual with evening availability during the week or early Saturday availability. Client's seeking to work with me may present with depression, anxiety, PTSD, men's issues, or race based stress. A client looking to work with me would be open to challenging their current mindset and actively developing a way to make changes in their life. Future offerings will include group therapy for men and individual supervision for licensed and unlicensed social workers.
My Background and Approach
l have been a social worker since 2018. I have run intensive group sessions (IOP) with people ages 18 to 80 diagnosed with mental illness and or substance abuse issues. I have also provided individual therapy to the same population of people. I currently work with people with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). My therapy approach heavily incorporates Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior techniques. My approach is very goal and solution focused with an understanding that even with the most wanted of goals take time to achieve. In working with me, it is okay to take time to vent about your day or even spend a few sessions on a different topic. Progress in one area of life often can translate into progress in another area of life!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a strong believer of equitable treatment and acceptance. In saying this, I do not expect myself or any one person to have a full understanding of or an agreement with others who are different from them. The goal I see is allowing others to be their authentic self and being accepted for that. Conversely, as the world changes and the true diversity of the human experience becomes more visible, it is beneficial that people of diverse backgrounds are understanding of other's lack of knowledge. As stated above, I also do not have a full understanding of all of the human experience and in working with you, I may ask for clarity about your expression of self.
