Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Ottawa, IL

About My Clients

I work with people from many different backgrounds, and welcome clients of all identities. I have a particular passion for working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and providing a space where you don't have to hide or change who you are. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and other challenges. You don't need to know exactly what's wrong or what you need from therapy before reaching out.

My Background and Approach

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor treatment to each person's needs, goals, personality, and circumstances. My experience includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, strengths-based approaches, and play therapy with children and adolescents. I previously practiced in Massachusetts, where I had the opportunity to study under a clinician with extensive expertise in trauma treatment. That experience strongly shaped my commitment to trauma-informed care. I focus on creating safety, offering choice, building trust, and understanding behavior in the context of what a person has experienced. Therapy should always be collaborative, inclusive, and genuinely useful in your everyday life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, and providing genuinely affirming care to LGBTQ+ clients is especially important to me. I value neurodiversity and believe that differences in how people think, communicate, experience emotions, or interact with the world aren't automatically problems that need to be "fixed", though they can affect you and your life significantly. I believe strongly in bodily autonomy, disability rights, racial and gender equity, and creating communities where people have easy access to the resources and support they need. I also believe therapy should involve a systematic approach as needed. Sometimes distress comes from within us, and sometimes people are responding to very real difficulties, inequities, relationships, or systems around them. My goal is to help you understand yourself, how you fit into your world, and help you build a life that works for you.
