About My Clients
I greatly enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families from a systemic and structural lens. Prior to joining the team at Rise Up Counseling, I worked in a community clinic where the majority of my clients were Spanish-speaking or new immigrants to the States. Considering the many challenges that come with adjusting to a new environment, it is my privilege to support anybody going through major life transitions and changes.
My Background and Approach
I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and immigrated to Utah with my family at the age of three. My own experience receiving therapy as a child shaped my desire to become a therapist and reduce the stigma of mental healthcare within my community. Pursuing higher education has always been a goal of mine. I became the first person in my family to attend college when earning my B.S. in Behavioral Science at Utah Valley University, and subsequently obtained my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University. Outside of the classroom, I have additional training in healing from domestic violence, providing bilingual therapy, and navigating transitional stressors.
