About My Clients
Becoming a new parent is a critical transition. We may deal with strong feelings, huge lifestyle changes, and lofty expectations. We may be challenged to figure out the parent we need to be. Some may be challenged to sift through old memories of their own childhood to answer this question. Others may feel charged to redefine themselves away from the family mold. How we choose to be today will have lasting effects into the formative years of our family well-being for generations to come.
My Background and Approach
I am a trauma-informed, integrative counselor. My role is to help you better understand more helpful ways of being and foster a deeper appreciation of self during this important time. I apply an integrative, evidence-based approach of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Family Systems Counseling, and Person-Centered Counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Many of the issues we face are not designed to be solved alone. The most valuable aspect of change is a therapeutic relationship that is measured by trust, genuineness, and openness. I believe in the power of a safe and collaborative process with no room for judgment. This belief is reminiscent of the privilege I've received to work with numerous others; these folks have both discovered and leveraged their own power to bounce back against, and overcome, significant adversity. With our collaboration, resources, and wit, this outcome can be a reality for any person who is willing for change, even if change seems inconceivable.
