About My Clients
I work with clients who struggle with trauma and anxiety. If you are a highly sensitive people pleaser who has trouble settling your nervous system, I get you! if you are a highly driven constant seeker, and you are experiencing burnout, I have tools to help you reshape your life. If you feel stuck in trauma responses and symptoms, I will work with you to process and find meaning in unresolved emotions.
My Background and Approach
We are taught to constantly go, but sometimes we need to stop, look inside, and find what's keeping us from moving forward. I offer a safe container to do this. You have the knowledge within to choose the right path. It's my job to walk with you, lighting the way. I offer individual therapy in English/Spanish. I have advanced training in EMDR, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, CBT, IFS, DBT, yoga techniques for mental health, and Somatic Therapy for Complex Trauma. My approach is collaborative and personalized. I'm influenced by Buddhist Psychology, helping clients uncover unconscious thinking patterns to understand why our actions don't always mirror our intentions. As a holistic therapist and a Registered Yoga Teacher, I use interventions that work directly with the nervous system to decrease symptoms. Depending on your needs, our work together can be short-term, goal directed, and practical. Or, it can be expansive, open-ended, and inquiring, offering a more holistic approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a feminist, anti-racist, LGBTQIA-allied therapist. I am passionate about supporting clients in healing from systemic oppression. I believe that most mental health symptoms are skills we have developed to cope with past difficult situations, and these skills have stopped working for us in the present moment. I believe that healing happens when we are given space to process and unravel unhealthy patterns, when we are witnessed and affirmed in doing so. Instead of "getting rid of symptoms" or "curing mental illness," I believe the healing work is about learning to accept all of the exiled parts of ourselves, and to gain the skill of holding the space for the variety of human emotions. I am a huge proponent of rest. I believe that people need to slow down and spend time in non-doing in order to process emotions and make meaning of experiences. I teach and practice Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), and integrate this into my work as a therapist.
