About My Clients

If you have suffered trauma, or want be more fully at home inside yourself or with others; if you are trying to navigate a world that too easily permits oppression, or want to grow (even unseen) kernels of wholeness, I'd love to work with you. My clients have a wide array of experiences and identities. Clients open to mindfulness, the power of relationship, and/or Transforming Touch will be a fit, whether dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, health issues, or other challenges.

My Background and Approach

I aim to support clients in developing their capacities to see and respond to inner patterns and to unlock compassion and wisdom. I draw especially from Transforming Touch, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, AEDP, mindfulness, and parts work to support work in relationship together. These approaches are appropriate for people with or without past experience with mindfulness. I earned my Masters in Social Work in 2000 and worked for years in social justice policy, research and community organizing. I've had a meditation practice since 2006 under several Buddhist teachers, and have spent many weeks in retreat. I feel fortunate to now have a second social work “career” as a therapist, honoring shifts in my life experience. I've long had a commitment to healing to healing to unlearn white supremacy, and learning cultural humility, which permeates my work as well.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that our bodies, minds and hearts, in relationship with others and our environment, hold keys to healing and thriving. Even when we are struggling, and don’t know how to feel better, there is a kernel of wholeness, no matter how inaccessible it seems. With each step towards healing and wellness, there are ripples inward to our inner world and outward to our environment. The name of my practice, Tikkun Healing and Wellness, inspired by the Jewish teaching of "Tikkun Olam" - to heal, mend or repair a broken world - recognizes that personal and societal wellness are deeply intertwined. I aim to honor each client's personal history and identities such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, body type, economic status, age, and immigration history. Each person's challenges and resilience, including cultural pain points and strengths can be included in our work – as can any type of spirituality – so you can bring you whole self to the deep work of therapy.
