About My Clients

I identify as queer and transmasculine, and I prioritize working with individuals & couples within the LGBTQ+ community. However, I have experience working with clients of all genders, sexualities, ages, and backgrounds, and I am open to all.

My Background and Approach

I'm a Clinical Social Worker, which means my education and training centers on a person-first, holistic, culturally-sensitive approach. We use a bio-psycho-social model, which means I never reduce a person to their symptoms. Every issue has a specific context; no person or problem exists in a vacuum, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. The primary issue I work with clients on is "Anxiety," but this is not so much an issue in itself, as it is a root that manifests as many different issues. I particularly work with the intersection of identity and social/relational issues, body image/eating disorders, as well as addictions & compulsions. These issues are often rooted in deeply complex anxiety and trauma, and I aim to help clients understand how these issues manifest for them. Growth & change cannot happen until one understands and accepts where they currently are. This is where a trained outside perspective can help: to illuminate blind spots and provide psychoeducation.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a degree in Philosophy, and many aspects of my therapeutic approach are influenced by this. I am particularly fond of Philosophy of Identity, Philosophy of Mind, Existentialism, and Phenomenology. I believe the answer to every question must include aspects of science/biology, philosophy, and psychology in order to be complete. We live in a world today in which we are bombarded with narrow thoughts and quick fixes. It's difficult to stay grounded, mindful, and connected to our fullness of being. With so much constantly being thrown at us and demanding our attention, it's hard to know or find out how we actually feel, let alone know how to manage these feelings in a way that's conducive to growing into the person we are and want to be. For this reason, I believe therapy is crucial for everyone living in today's world. (Hover over each "specialty" below to see a small description of its meaning for better understanding.)
