About My Clients
I work with adults and couples on anxiety, trauma, grief, sleep, and the relationship patterns that keep repeating. Some of my clients are couples who love each other and still keep landing in the same fight, or engaged couples who want the tools before the wedding. Some are grieving long after everyone else expects them to be done. Many work in film, TV, and creative fields. If you tell me the job is why you can't sleep, I won't need you to explain the job
My Background and Approach
Before I was a therapist, I spent twenty years producing documentaries, TV, commercials, and social impact campaigns, and I went to grad school at night while raising my son on my own, so I know what it's like to hold a lot at once. Long before that, I trained as a yoga teacher and a doula and led healing arts programs for young people through LAUSD, which is why the body has always been part of how I work. I'm EMDR trained, certified in Social Emotional Arts and Healing, and trained in CBT-I for insomnia. Together we look for the pattern underneath what keeps happening, whether that's the fight you keep having, the memory that still runs the show, or the 3am loop, and we slow it down enough to see it. I use partswork, somatic tools, and creative practices alongside talk. I think of therapy like physical therapy: we learn the exercise together, and the change comes from doing your reps between sessions. If that sounds right, book a free 20-minute consult and we'll see if it's a fit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I went to Hampshire College, whose motto is Non Satis Scire, to know is not enough, and I still live by it. I'm wary of certainty, including my own, so I'll offer you ideas and we'll test them together against your actual life. I believe two things can be true at once: you can love someone and need to leave, or grieve someone for years and still have a good afternoon. I'm skeptical of manifesting and anything that promises the universe is listening. I'm much more interested in change you cause on purpose, like practicing gratitude and catching the brain's negativity bias, which the psychologist Rick Hanson writes about in Hardwiring Happiness. I also believe in awe, in art, and in ritual that works because of what it means to you. I'm an artist as well as a therapist, and I make objects for this kind of work, like bowls for parts work and a pair of dice about attachment. You can see them at ledaleda.com.
