About My Clients
Leanne enjoys working with any and all individuals who may struggle with desire discrepency, sexual addictions, abstinence, affairs/infidelity, polyamory, and gender dysphoria.
My Background and Approach
She utilizes an evidence-based approach that is grounded in psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Before focusing on sex therapy, she worked with clients to address issues such as anxiety, depression, divorce, domestic violence, infidelity, anger management, substance use, addiction recovery, post-traumatic stress disorder, and self-harm. Leanne provides a safe, motivational space to explore past experiences, identify areas needing support, and develop positive habits that can improve quality of life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I really align with DBT principles of mindfulness and creating a life worth living. One thing I remind myself daily is that Life is always inviting us into participation through relationship and creation. My philosophy toward therapy focuses on the present moment. We may need to dip into the past for wisdom and learnings for a moment or two, but the work is done in the Now. There is no better time than right now to do "the thing." Whether it is laundry or intimate conversation, we can always start a new Now, and tend to the present moment that is arising in our daily lives. Kindness and respect can smooth many awkward and jagged feelings. Making a good life is one good decision after another. Creating mental health comes from having a state called congruence. It is total being alignment with your values, thoughts, words, and actions. When you love what you do you never have to work a day in your life. On my days off, I enjoy walking my dog and baking homemade meals.
