When helping clients to navigate trauma, the importance of meeting a person in their experience with compassion and understanding is essential. Trauma can impact us in various ways, which may be apparent or challenging to identify. I place a strong focus on creating an environment where clients can feel safe enough to do the work that is needed to heal.

I often use Ego State Therapy and IFS, which support clients in getting acquainted with and understanding different parts or sides of themselves. This can benefit clients in many ways, such as increasing personal insight, working through inner conflicts, finding the source of uncomfortable or confusing thoughts/feelings/behaviors, and more.

My work incorporates an attachment-focused lens. The experiences that we have had in relationships throughout our lives, especially in childhood, affect our connections with others. This applies not only to partner relationships, but also the relationships we have with friends, family members, bosses, and others that we interact with. Exploring and understanding our attachment styles, strengths, and injuries is an important part of the therapy process and our growth.

These approaches can be modified to fit a person's needs, whether they identify as plural/having dissociative identities or as a single individual.
