About My Clients
On the outside, everything seems great. On the outside, others see that you’re hard-working, accomplished, and a go-getter. But on the inside, you are constantly anxious and your mind won't shut-off at night. Your inner critic is constantly pointing out where you are falling short or reminding you that you are not enough. It's exhausting. You give so much to others and forget to make yourself a priority. I can help. You don't have to suffer quietly or alone anymore. Change is possible.
My Background and Approach
A a licensed clinical psychologist, my approach to psychotherapy is to practice from a place of warmth, openness, respect, curiosity, and compassion. I emphasize self-discovery, mindful awareness, education, collaboration, and courageous action. Therapy starts with an assessment phase - a period of "dumping out the pieces of the puzzle" and working to understand how they come together. We examine behavior and thought patterns, as well as key dynamics that may be keeping you stuck. We then work together to create a plan to address these issues in order to heal the past, change your experience of the present, and help you to create the future you want. I believe in matching my approach to the client and their unique needs, and am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, perinatal mental health, and mindfulness based approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
First and foremost, I believe that for therapy to work, trust and openness are essential. Second, I believe that everyone deserves a life worth living. A life where they can connect to their deepest values, wishes and longings. I believe that therapy is a place for holding space to recognize and say aloud the things we want deep down and move toward those values through courageous and committed action. Finally, I believe in humor. I believe that our ability to laugh or find small moments of joy, even when things may seem bleak, is what helps us to connect and heal.
