You wonder, did I miss the window for having an impact on my kids? Will they only remember our bad times? Will I get to feel like a self again? You yearn for another voice, another presence that is unbiased & trustworthy, to help you process & give room to all the swirling hurt & uncertainty. You want a consistent, steady feeling, and self trust.
My Background and Approach
I help parents/caregivers (especially introverts!) struggling with their child's intensity, so that instead of feeling exhausted & hopeless, they have the tools (like the Nurtured Heart Approach®, or NHA) to be calm, connected & recharged. NHA was originally developed by therapist Howard Glasser decades ago for intense/“difficult” kids, but has since expanded to apply to pretty much any relationship! It’s great for parents/caregivers, educators, & clinicians. NHA shifts our lens, toward awareness of where we put our relational energy, so we're purposeful about what makes us “show up" & kids don't accidentally get the message that adults come alive the most when there’s a problem. It's blame-free and deeply empowering for all involved.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe there's no success too small to celebrate. I believe that you have everything you need within yourself-- you just might need some help seeing it, accessing it, and activating it. At the same time, I believe we're all fundamentally wired for connection, and that it's profoundly okay to both need and ask for support. I believe there are many sources of wisdom in the world and throughout history, and that there are some deep imbalances in terms of who has been allowed to hold power, write history, and construct society. I believe that none of what has happened to you is your fault, but I want to work with you to connect to every available source of power (within and around you) to make sure you are equipped to do whatever your "next right things" might be.
