I understand how life can throw terrain, leaving us with dust and dirt to clean up. Maybe you've found yourself unable to fully engage in your job, relationships, responsibilities, school or your passions in the ways you want? Maybe you've known you needed to take this time for yourself and haven't because you're busy taking care of others. I love working with individual adults who want to gain more self-awareness, tools & knowledge of themselves when life challenges us to grow.
My Background and Approach
I have been a practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker in health/mental health for over fifteen years. I obtained my Bachelor’s & Master’s in Social Work at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, with a primary focus in health and mental health. I am also anticipate completing Advance Certification of EMDR in 2024 through Kase & Co. I recognize stress in these uncertain times impact lives & I value working collaboratively with you to build healthy coping skills, gain insight & new perspectives in your busy life. Through our collaboration I provide expertise and guidance to help you learn new skills in building a healthier and happier you in the journey of your life. I provide warmth, humor and honesty in our work with patients. I strive to create a space where you can feel supported, seen & safe to explore whatever life has thrown your way. I utilize an eclectic framework depending on your needs (EMDR, CBT, ACT, DBT and strengths based approach).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about supporting those navigating anxiety, depression, new or ongoing health conditions, grief, loss and interpersonal relationships. I really admire my clients and see them as equals. So, naturally, I also speak with patients as capable equals. I consider myself a trauma informed therapist who presents with empathy, warmth, curiosity and compassion. Outside of work you will find me repurposing furniture, escaping to the mountains for a hike, kickboxing, cooking new recipes or comedy nights in the city.
