About My Clients
I specialize in helping those, 21 years of age and older, that frequently feel like the odd one out, are struggling to find where they fit in the world, feel lost or without purpose, are often told they are “too sensitive”, often feel overwhelmed by people and environments, and/or feel the pressure of living their “best life” when they’re just trying to keep their head above water.
My Background and Approach
My main approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is an evidenced-based behavioral intervention to help people learn strategies to live life more in the present, more focused on important values and goals, and less focused on painful thoughts, feelings and experiences. I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) most commonly used for trauma and the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), which focuses on increasing nervous system regulation through non-invasive filtered music. Now the boring bit…I graduated from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology with a doctorate (PsyD.) in clinical psychology and spent more than 11 years in community mental health. Some of my specific professional experiences include providing therapy, consultation, and training to individuals and groups ranging from children to older adults in settings such as a medical hospital, primary care, K-6 schools, a non-profit cancer support center, and juvenile justice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m just a Midwest gal at heart, living in Colorado. I’m down to earth and just want to be myself therefore it’s important to me that you to feel comfortable doing the same. Subsequently, genuineness being an important value in my life probably doesn’t come as a surprise to you. Additionally, I value curiosity, humor, humility, accountability, creativity, faith, and contentment. I love learning and being curious about different ways of life, which helps me to be open-minded, warm, and supportive with those who don't look, act, or think like me.
