Life can feel overwhelming and at times painful, but I believe you can experience a life worth living. Talking to someone about your fears or trying different things is risky, and it's risky to stay the same too. I want to support you in your growth, at your pace.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in art and performance, and I love to work with artists, writers, animators, editors, directors, and actors to support their creative goals. I also have years of experience in Somatic Therapy, which addresses the physical symptoms of emotions. Many people experience behaviors or compulsions—usually based on past traumas—that negatively impact their daily lives. Somatic Therapy is a form of healing this trauma in the body. I recommend this approach if you are not ready to talk about events but are seeking support and relief from the pain. It is especially helpful in decreasing compulsive behaviors, including addiction, and cultivating a sense of safety in one's body. I have worked with eating disorders for over 8 years now and am passionate about Health at Every Size as well as a flexible recovery. There is no one size fits all for health or recovery and I intend to meet you where you are at. You can have freedom.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy is a collaboration. You are the authority on your own experience and your own goals, and I respect that fact more than an average therapist. I want to know what you want to work on, and help you specifically with that. It takes courage to set on a path of healing and growth; I honor this by offering space to move towards your chosen goals at your own pace. You are a unique person, and so I do my best to individualize treatment to your values and intentions over preconceived ideas of what "healthy" means.
