About My Clients
Have you been experiencing loss, grief, trauma symptoms, anxiety, and/or sadness? When we experience the above we often have trouble expressing ourselves, have stifled creativity, feel stuck, purposeless, sad, restless, powerless, angry, lack motivation, and meaningful connections with people and experiences. You are not alone even though it may feel that way. Mind/Body/Spirit practices have shown to be very helpful with what you're experiencing right now.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed mental health counselor with a specialty in expressive arts therapies (music, movement/dance, drama, writing, and visual arts). I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Heart Assisted Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Open Dialogue, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I pull on energy psychology, such as The Law of Attraction, but never at the disservice of marginalized people. I am a therapist who likes to provide psycho-education so that my clients have a framework and understanding of the techniques we use together and my own thoughts around a client's experience. I also love being trained in techniques I can teach clients to easily access on their own. As people's needs can be so varied, I love being able to offer my clients lots of options to explore within the context of psychotherapy. One day we may work with EFT and the next create artwork together around a particular theme. I do my best to be as flexible as possible within reason.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that compassion can change a lot in our world... and, so can policy change, and open honest dialogue. I believe our mental health system and insurance policies need extensive reform, which is why I choose not to be paneled with insurance. Instead, I offer a sliding scale based on income for those who are in need- please contact me directly to inquire about this option. I believe that much of what holds us back as humans is our limiting belief system suppressed expression and systems of oppression/suppression. As a teenager and young adult I dealt with significant anxiety and depression. I found that mind/body/spirit techniques, as well safe space to express my truth, were most helpful for me, so I make it a point to bring this to my clients. Outside of work, I love Zumba, nature, and all things spiritual, traveling, hiking, and creating artwork.
