About My Clients
To the black sheep, family-line changers, transformation seekers, LGBTQ+ folks, brave squishy hearts and revolutionaries: I see you. You’ve come to the right place. Perhaps the phrase, “being brave means doing it afraid” describes you? You’ve carried a big load both for yourself and others and it’s time for you to find your own rest, healing, freedom, and inspiration to move forward. Special experience with religious trauma / deconstruction and spirituality after religious trauma.
My Background and Approach
Utilizing EMDR, spiritual direction, and IFS-informed trauma lens, I approach clients with both empathy and appropriate doses of humor. Depth+humor+authenticity is my jam. Experience with anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+, coming out in a religious context, family estrangement, narciss. abuse, sex abuse, religious trauma, and spiritual development. Offering both individual and group sessions. My unique gift is connecting isolated people to others who are struggling with similar issues. For those unfamiliar with spiritual direction: Spiritual direction is the practice of being with people as they attempt to deepen their relationship with the divine, or to learn and grow in their personal spirituality. The person seeking direction shares stories of their encounters of the divine, or how they are cultivating a life attuned to spiritual things. The director listens and asks questions to assist the directee in their process of reflection and spiritual growth. No preaching or evangelizing here!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Healing rarely happens in isolation. I believe in a relational approach to therapy - I’m not a “blank slate” in the ways my psychological training wishes me to be. From time to time I may share experiences from my own life that may relate to situations in yours. We’ll laugh at the absurdity of life and hold sacred space for the dark, painful places. Many of my clients end up in either the therapeutic or spiritual groups I offer regularly. It’s my belief that we need community to help us heal. Beginning with a therapist is a great place to start an then be gently launched into community healing.
