About My Clients
I work well with individuals who would like to: process the past; better understand the self, patterns, and/or relational dynamics; develop a coping skill "toolbox"; improve their relationship with body, food, and movement; alleviate chronic health challenges, such as insomnia and chronic pain; process and work through major life changes and transitions; identify and address sources of pain and suffering.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive experience in providing evidence-based clinical care in both group and individual formats. For seven years, I worked in a Veterans hospital, where I gained specialized training in health psychology, including clinical interventions for the alleviation of chronic pain, insomnia, body image concerns, binge and emotional eating; in addition to depressive, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Osho is credited with saying: If you love a flower, don't pick it up. Because if you pick it up, it dies and ceases to be what you love. Love is about appreciation, not possession. This quote is a nice reflection of my clinical style; compassionate, strengths-focused, and client-centered. I believe that we all possess the wisdom and skills necessary to achieve well-being and peace. Therapy can be a helpful tool for uncovering this inner resource.
