About My Clients
Early experiences influence the way we act and engage in the world. Without time to reflect we can get stuck in habits and patterns that are meant to protect us but prevent us from true connection with others and the present. Together we will identify root causes of the behaviors and repeated actions that no longer serve you. We will practice being vulnerable. Clients who are serious about making changes while maintaining a sense of humor when needed will do well in this practice together.
My Background and Approach
My experience includes work as a clinical social worker in community mental health settings, providing clinical supervision and support to new therapists, and direct activism to help decrease stigma around mental health. I have worked in the field for over 10 years providing therapy services and continue to be in awe of the work that can be achieved in session. I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs and draw from various modalities including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CBT and polyvagal theory. Some individuals will want a more structured experience to target particular concerns, while others seek a more open ended opportunity to reflect and unpack current stressors. Together we will create a plan that you feel good about.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all deserve a space to feel safe and free from judgement and value the work I do with people who are often at their most vulnerable. I work hard to create a space where clients feel seen and free to share some of their most difficult experiences. I continuously do my own work to unpack implicit biases, understanding that we are all a product of the racist, sexist, homophobic & transphobic smog that is a part of our culture.
