About My Clients
My target populations of clients are children, teenagers, and young adults. I particularly enjoy working with teenagers going through various life transitions and with young adults experiencing the transition into adulthood (especially including the transition to college). Another area of mine that I am very passionate about is working with entire family systems. I believe some of the best therapeutic work can be done with the entire family in the room!
My Background and Approach
I discovered my interest and passion in the mental health field after spending three years working in a residential facility for children and adolescents. I worked with children in the foster system, children working to get adopted, and children who had nowhere to go and were moving from facility to facility. I worked with clients with borderline personality disorder, ADHD, ODD, autism, schizophrenia, and many other diagnoses. My current therapeutic approaches include utilizing techniques of play therapy, CBT, DBT, and strategic therapy to name a few. I find myself pulling from a variety of therapeutic approaches to ensure my clients get a well-rounded experience while working with me.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe I can serve a wide variety of clients within the community. I am a supporter of the LGBT community along with being an advocate for anyone experiencing mental health diagnoses to get the help that they need. I am a strong believer that working with the entire family system can significantly help a client begin to see improvements within the therapy room. After spending time working in a residential facility, I am also an advocate for early intervention with children in order to minimize the amount of children within these facilities.
