About My Clients
I love working with clients who are going through periods of change or transition. Life has thrown you an unexpected barrier or twist, you are just coming out of a period of crisis, you are starting or ending an endeavor, a job, or a relationship, or you are feeling stuck and ready for something to shift. Maybe change or the idea of change is brining up symptoms of anxiety, depression, or touching on trauma. I am here to collaborate with you, provide you with tools, support, and encouragement.
My Background and Approach
I am an LCSW with experience working primarily with womxn working through anxiety, trauma, depression, or who are looking to therapy as a way to grow, develop, and break old patterns and make progress towards thriving. I work collaboratively with clients to set goals that they find inspiring and figure out what tools and modalities will benefit them the most. I have training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, somatic practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness practices and bring each of these to my work with clients. My approach is strengths-based and focused on equipping you with skills and practices that you can use long after therapy to continue to grow, develop, and heal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am dedicated to being of service to my community. One of the things that inspired me to become a therapist was the trouble I had finding a therapist who could identify with my experiences as a Black woman when I needed mental health support. I love the 1:1 healing work I get to do through therapy and I recognize that must be paired with community healing because social factors like racism, sexism, heteronormativity, transphobia and more have a major impact on our ability to live and grow and thrive. This is why I offer free and low cost classes and workshops in my community, I am active in local groups and organizations committed to justice and equity in higher education spaces, and I serve on the board of an educational nonprofit.
