About My Clients
I help adults and teens walk through challenging life transitions, find healing around experiences of anxiety, perfectionism, and grief, and explore identity and spirituality. I work with Exvangelicals, Purity Culture Survivors, and others in the Deconstruction community. I also work with Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOAs) around the uniquely chaotic experience of growing up with an addicted parent. I am most helpful with clients seeking in-depth processing rather than coping skills primarily.
My Background and Approach
Therapy is a unique space where we get to be curious and practice nonjudgment towards our experiences, rather than anxiously rush to straighten the mess, solve the problems, move on as usual. In my work I lead with curiosity and openness and center your experiences and values to guide you in your healing. I take a holistic and integrative approach toward mental health and seek to empower you to find what is most helpful in your journey. My approach is informed by various social critical lenses, including feminist theory, critical race theory, and intersectionality. How we impact and are impacted by various systems plays a role in how we seek wholeness, and what forms of healing we pursue. For therapy to be a source of healing, naming abuse and reclaiming authority and freedom are essential parts of the work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I became a therapist because I love having conversations about stuff that matters, and believe such conversations have incredible power. I’m routinely struck by the complexity and depth that is being human. What a gift to walk together on our journeys. I am a survivor of Purity Culture, Evangelicalism, and abusive systems, and know the profound impact these systems and experiences can have on those raised in them. I am absolutely passionate about empowering women; reclaiming sexuality, finding spiritual authority, healing from internalized misogyny – I’m here to help. We need each other. I’m a Washingtonian and LOVE my home. My partner and I live with our two rescue pitties who are my Beloveds (see pics of them on my website 😉). I enjoy dancing, yoga, coffee, gardening, trying new recipes, and making art. If you think I may be a good fit for your therapy focus, head to my website and contact me for a free 15 minute phone consult! I look forward to talking!
