About My Clients
My clients are largely LGBTQ+ individuals who are coming out, navigating family-of-origin issues, processing religious trauma, recovering from anxiety/depression/grief/shame, etc. My approach is narrative therapy-based, client-centered, culturally sensitive and collaborative. My vibe in the counseling room is open, warm, transparent and explorative. I currently work with individuals ages 18+ (younger on a case-by-case basis) and parents of LGBTQ+ youth.
My Background and Approach
I earned a BA in English, minor in Psychology, from Gardner-Webb University (2009), an MA in Womens Studies Gender Studies from Loyola University Chicago (2011) and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (2019). In my 13+ years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked with LGBTQ+ populations, individuals in trauma recovery, community mental health teams, housing programs, and many more. I have worked with children as young as 5 years old through older adults in their 70's. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and that by exploring your personal narrative together, we can unlock a powerful pathway to healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I care deeply about LGBTQ+ equity, women’s rights, racial justice, donor conceived peoples' rights, and safety for all those who are marginalized and/or oppressed. In my lived, academic and occupational experience, I have become deeply familiar with navigating intersections between sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, class, etc. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, visiting local wineries and spending time with my wife and two precious children.
