About My Clients
I am EMDR trained and enjoy working with a variety of mental health concerns including, but not limited to, PTSD, trauma, neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD), 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, gender issues, gender dysphoria, identity exploration, chronic pain, chronic illness, Disability, and career development. I prefer to work with individuals who are ages 10 and older. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who are neurodiverse, have disabilities, or identify within the queer community.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor under ongoing supervision by Britta Sivhel MA, LPCC, LADC until I can get my LPCC. I have a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from St. Cloud State University and previously worked at a site that specializes in providing trauma and mental health services to people in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I prefer a more compassionate, empathetic, and gentle approach to therapy, combined with a holistic and intersectional perspective to help you find your voice and be true to yourself. I use a person-centered, eclectic lens, with various therapeutic approaches to create an experience that will fit each individual and their needs. I look at the whole person and environment, not just one part so we can tailor your therapy sessions and treatment plan to your specific needs. I love teaching people about coping skills and ways to manage their mental health so they can feel empowered and in control of their treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people who have experienced trauma are some of the strongest people and they deserve support and healing. It is my goal to walk alongside people as they heal and to support them how I can. I strive to create a calm, welcoming, inclusive, and accommodating environment for all. I am always excited to explore and figure out what works best for each person, if something is not working, I appreciate it when people speak up and tell me. I enjoy helping clients find their voice and advocate for themself and their needs. I have worked with many people who people please, and I will assist in building your confidence and using your voice. As someone who has PTSD, has continued to heal, and has experienced how impactful therapy can be, I am a firm believer that things can get better. I am passionate about disability advocacy, chronic pain, and chronic illness, and I am an active member of the 2SLGBTIA+ community. If you think I might be a fit for you, please reach out!
