About My Clients
Choosing to work with a therapist is a very personal decision, usually prompted by facing a challenge that feels insurmountable alone. Everyone copes differently, but I believe the desire to be seen and understood is universal. I strive to create a safe, open and compassionate space for clients to explore their thoughts, behaviors and feeling - and ultimately process their experiences. I focus on client strengths and goals, while working collaboratively toward meaningful and sustainable growth.
My Background and Approach
I have dedicated the past decade to supporting people dealing with cancer and their families in large medical centers and smaller community clinics. My work focuses on the intersection of the psychological, behavioral, and social considerations surrounding serious illness. In the end, clients are much more than a diagnosis and they deserve holistic, comprehensive support of their experience. I work primarily from the behavior-based therapy models of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and draw in the principles and techniques of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in my practice. My goal is to collaborate with clients using their strengths and my facilitation of new insights and tools, to address what they struggle with most.
