About My Clients
As a former Professional School Counselor, I specialize in talk therapy for adolescents (typically ages eleven to twenty), particularly high school athletes and students experiencing feelings of depression and anxiety. My goal is to help students understand their own emotional patterns and support them in making healthier choices. I especially enjoy working with students faced with anxiety, balancing sports/school/life/extra-curriculars, and setting goals for themselves.
My Background and Approach
Let's sit down and talk! Using an approach based on a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I can be direct at times, but always compassionate and supportive. Together, we can work to improve your quality of life and help get through some of the most challenging years: high school!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The first step in any counseling relationship is to get to know each other a bit, and then we'll get into the real work. For every situation we experience in life, we have automatic, reactive thoughts which influence how we feel, and ultimately how we act. In session, I can support you in identifying those automatic thoughts, and learning to replace the unhelpful thoughts with more helpful ones. This can help you find a sense of control in situations that otherwise feel beyond your control.
