About My Clients
Are you struggling to connect with your child? Or are you a teen who's parents don't understand? Does everyone at home keep to themselves so there aren't fights? I know how to help with the disconnection, fighting, and tension that exists in your home. Home is supposed to feel safe and be a place to unwind; not a place adding to what you are already dealing with. I have a multitude of tools and approaches that I can teach you so that you are able to feel comfortable and connected at home again.
My Background and Approach
For the past 8 plus years, I have worked in residential care helping teens and their families. I have seen and heard it all which gives me an immense depth of experience. My goal is to collaborate with my clients and/or their families to help everyone buy into therapy so that we can do great work together. That work is hard, yet it has endless benefits. My approach is based in trauma and focuses on processing what has happened to you to allow you to gain more insight into who you are and what you need to be successful in life. I have training and experience with multiple approaches that allow me to meet you where you at and guide you in developing the skills you need. In this work, we build up your resilience, insight, and ability to cope with all that life throws at you so you become the one in control, not your mental health symptoms. Things will start to get easier and there will be symptom relief. I work hard to ensure my clients are benefiting from our work together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I operate from the assumption that all people have worth and should experience connection and acceptance for who they are without judgement. I strive to provide that for my clients and live by that in my personal life. I am innately curious about the world and how things work which lends itself very well to therapy as I desire to know all there is about my clients in order to help them grow and change into who they aspire to be. All people are capable of growth and change. However, not all of us were given the right support and education with which to do so. I aim to be a support and educator for my clients so that they can be empowered to change. The world is our oyster and we can make it what we want. That isn't always easy and it doesn't happen quickly, and it is possible. I also firmly believe in standing up against and fighting the stigma of mental health. It is natural and a part of all of us. There is nothing shameful in being who you are and striving to be your best self.
