About My Clients
As a counselor, my role is to provide space and support for people to discover their own power and resilience. I enjoy working with young children and their families as well as trauma survivors and adults experiencing discomfort or change in their life. I enjoy working with clients as they navigate self discovery, faith transitions, relationships, and life change. I also work with college students across a variety of concerns from anxiety and trauma to healthy habits and more.
My Background and Approach
I have experience working with child victims of sexual assault and their caregivers. I have also worked with various forms of interpersonal trauma, including domestic violence and sexual assault. I am EMDR trained and certified in Positive Discipline parenting. I love working with parents to help them discover effective parenting approaches that are congruent with their own values and supportive of their child's needs! I emphasize psychoeducation with all clients in order to help them better understand themselves and the interworking of their brains and bodies. Ultimately, I aim to help clients heal by developing healthy coping skills and reducing the impact of shame and self-criticism while increasing psychological flexibility. My goal is for clients to feel empowered and to walk away from counseling with practical, real-life tools to manage their circumstances and environment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of the foremost guiding principles of my practice is openness, and I strive to join with my clients wherever they are through empathy and understanding. I believe in the power of every individual and their ability to heal, to live consistently with their own values and identity, and to make meaning from difficult circumstances.
