About My Clients
I work with teens and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, chronic and acute illness, perinatal issues and women’s issues. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, communication, past trauma or life transitions, there is always the opportunity to grow and heal.
My Background and Approach
I use elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness-based therapy. I focus on the whole person (mind, body, and spirit) in therapy and work with clients to achieve a more healthy, joyful and meaningful life. In the past, I worked in a community mental health setting providing support for families and individuals involved with the juvenile justice department and the Division of Social Services. I have worked with a variety of clients such as teens dealing with self-esteem and body issues, women experiencing domestic violence, and parents grappling with parent-child relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Personally I have felt the heavy blanket of depression envelope me, searched for my identity, sat with the blow of a cancer diagnosis, and begged my ill body to heal. I have tasted the bitter poison of addiction's fingers on family and have pounded against the walls that trauma erects in it's defense. Through it all I've seen that there is hope. There are new ways of thinking available and new skills to learn. There are new ways of seeing yourself and of relating to the world. Suffering can create the unique opportunity for change and the potential for deep meaning. Let's create that meaning together.
