About My Clients
Your world changed drastically and now you’re left to pick-up the pieces. Grief can be such an isolating experience. When you experience a sudden loss, your whole life changes. Suddenly everything you thought about the world feels so uncertain. Maybe you can't stop thinking about the next bad thing that's going to happen, waiting for the other shoe to drop, and even worse- you don't even recognize the person in the mirror anymore. I help individuals manage life alongside traumatic loss.
My Background and Approach
I operate from a person-centered approach so while I'll make suggestions, I firmly believe and support your autonomy and lived experience throughout our work together. I frequently use EMDR, which is a well-researched therapy that works by helping the brain process and move through memories that feel stuck, shifting them into a healthier place so they no longer feel as overwhelming. EMDR does not get rid of your grief, but lets you live a meaningful life alongside your grief. One of the things people appreciate about EMDR is that it doesn’t require going into detail about the distressing event. Instead of trying to change how you think or feel about something, EMDR helps your brain get back to its natural ability to heal. For many, EMDR can bring about big shifts in a shorter amount of time compared to other types of therapy. Please know if we work together, we don't have to do EMDR- it's simply one of the modalities I offer.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I believe that healing happens best in spaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported exactly as they are. I'm committed to creating an inclusive, affirming environment for folks of all identities, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC clients, and anyone whose voice has been marginalized or silenced. I use a harm reduction lens in my work, which means I meet people where they are without judgment—and support their autonomy in making choices that feel right for them. My values are rooted in social justice, compassion, and equity. I believe that mental health care should be accessible, anti-oppressive, and deeply human. I'm a strong supporter of movements like Black Lives Matter, trans rights, and reproductive justice, and I continue to engage in ongoing education and advocacy to unlearn bias and challenge systems of harm.
