About My Clients
Maybe you look like you have it all together but you feel like you're falling apart on the inside. Beneath that carefully applied mask, there's an emotional storm brewing. Let's get you some help. The first step is finding a safe place to get the thoughts and worries out of your head and into a conversation. Figuring out how to get you some relief is the second step. We'll work through it together. Give me a call or visit my website at http://theArtofTherapyStudio.com
My Background and Approach
We'll start with some practical tools to help wrangle those symptoms and then we'll dive deeper to help you uncover why you're struggling. Together we'll help you heal so you can show up as the partner, parent and person you want to be. If talk therapy isn’t working, I’ll come up with creative ways to explore what’s going on with you. This might mean I draw something to illustrate a point. It might mean you reconnect with your inner child by putting pencil to paper. Heck, we might even go crazy and get out the watercolors. Whatever we try, I can promise you it won’t be anything you can’t handle. In fact, clients tell me bringing abstract ideas into visual metaphors helps them see what they’ve been missing. If you're wondering about my credentials, I've been a therapist for about 12 years now. My master’s degree in Counseling and Education (with a concentration in Art Therapy) is from the University of Louisville. With honors even.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Just like you, I have had my share of challenges and losses so there is absolutely no judgement here for how you respond to what life has thrown you. I won't be shocked or offended. You can't scare me off. Once you decide to work with me, I'm on Team You and there's nothing you can say or do that will make me think less of you. I'm like a cross between your best friend and a non-syndicate-related consigliere. My goal is to listen to you and not only hear what you’re saying, but also hear what you’re leaving out so I can help you get where you want to go: out of pain and onto someplace-better-than-here. How we get there is up to you. You drive the process. I just provide the GPS. Sometimes we’ll take detours, but I’ll do my best to keep us always headed in the right direction. We may even have a little fun along the way. Fun in therapy? Yup, I believe humor has a place in therapy. Laughter is a guaranteed way to reduce stress, and it’s a fantastic way to put things in perspective.
