Laura serves clients across the lifespan with a specialization in children, adolescents, and families as well as adults facing substance use disorders.
My Background and Approach
Laura knows starting therapy is brave. She uses a blend of psychodynamic and person-centered approaches paired with evidence-based interventions including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), internal family systems (IFS), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), play therapy, and somatic processing to help clients achieve change in their lives. Recognizing the importance of systemic change, Laura works with clients to identify patterns of behaviors and relationships. Laura worked as an experiential educator in her previous career, exploring the healing capacity of nature and movement with clients across the lifespan.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Laura has worked with a number of human service organizations over the past decade. As a social worker, Laura believes that relationships are at the core of our well-being and works to make the therapeutic relationship central, characterized by empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. Laura helps clients achieve change through gaining insight into unconscious processes, resolving unresolved conflicts, and developing healthier ways of coping with emotions and relationships. Laura works to provides a supportive environment that allows clients to explore and integrate their experiences. Her primary goal is to help clients discover their own solutions and potential by facilitating self-exploration, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
