About My Clients
My clients are individuals who have been raised in settings of religious fundamentalism who may have felt like they were not able to be fully themselves. Now, my clients are often figuring out how to integrate their past experiences into their lives and move forward with courage, honor, clarity, and confidence. They may also be doing all of this while balancing their needs as parents.
My Background and Approach
I was raised in a deeply gendered and religious community and had three children by the time I was in my mid-20s. I'm deeply aware of the cultural components of religious trauma as well as the unique challenges faced by young parents. I have a strong work history with a diverse group of individuals, including the geriatric population and those living with severe and persistent mental illnesses. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and utilize both often in my practice. My style is warm, genuine, humorous, and open. I respect and prioritize my client's sense of self-determination above all.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a Caucasian, cisgender female; I identify as spiritual but prioritize the individual experiences of faith/spirituality in my clients rather than my own interpretation. I define trauma as "anything too much, too fast, too soon, from which you felt like you had no escape" and I firmly believe in an individual's ability to identify that trauma, lean into what it has meant for them, and re-establish their relationship with themselves and the world around them following a trauma.
