About My Clients

Do you feel overwhelmed and out of touch with your body? Maybe you know how to analyze your emotions, but still can't figure out how to feel or manage them? Whether you're dealing with burnout, anxiety, disability grief, or any number of reasonable reactions to an often unreasonable world, I would be honored to help you reconnect to yourself and your community. Together, we can get curious and compassionate towards the parts of you that are feeling stuck & build your capacity to love life again.

My Background and Approach

As a social worker, my approach is rooted in systems theory (the idea that our lives are shaped by the systems and contexts around us). Together, we will get curious about both your internal and external worlds and help you to build tools to manage both. My professional experience includes working as a peer counselor for college students, providing case management and sexual education in HIV clinics, and supporting survivors of sexual assault. I also have an academic focus on Integrative Health, Stress Management, Mindfulness and Resilience. I have training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and also enjoy working with modalities such as Person-Centered Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, and Somatic Therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a queer, trans, disabled, neurodivergent, Latine, I believe that therapy is inherently political - especially for those who have been marginalized by power structures. As a social worker and therapist, I am informed by queer and intersectional feminist theory; crip theory and Disability Justice movements; critical race theory and the Black Lives Matter Movement; Health at Every Size (HAES) and Fat Liberation movements; and indigenous wisdom. I believe that therapy - as with any healthcare - should be a partnership between the client and therapist. I have expertise in therapeutic tools, but you are the expert in your own experience. I believe that self-compassion is a highly underrated tool for healing. Rather than seeing ourselves through a lens of judgement and pathology, I am curious about the insight our behaviors give us into the parts of ourselves that may need more attention and love.
