My Background and Approach
I use various skillsets in therapy, but I have found EMDR(eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to be the most effective approach. This therapeutic approach is not only helpful for trauma, but other areas of need. I regularly use EMDR in a telehealth setting and feel very comfortable doing so. I also utilize the evidence-based practices of MI (motivational interviewing), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). I find these interventions helpful in challenging those hard thoughts and giving you skills to continue navigating through difficult emotions and thoughts. If one intervention set does not meet your needs, I will use other interventions to help you reach your goals for therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in providing my clients with a safe space for them to feel seen and heard. A benefit of online therapy is coming to session in a way that is comfortable for you. It can be in slippers, comfy clothes or having your pet by your side. I see therapy as a collaborative approach of open communication of what works best for you area of needs.
