About My Clients
Clients who come to see me are tired of their current life situation and want change. I help and encourage these individuals and couples to improve themselves, their lives and their relationships. My specialties are grief, loss, and life transitions. I have experience in working with communications issues, conflict management, anger management, trauma, and other difficult life situations such as a stress, anxiety, depression, divorce, separation, and infidelity.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to provide a safe environment in which you can feel free to express yourself honestly, feel heard, and understood, and experience support to work toward a better life, and a better version of yourself. According to what your specific needs are I will use person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy. In addition to my education and experience as a licensed professional counselor for 20 years, I have credentials in dealing with death, grief, and loss. I am certified in thanatology (the study of death dying in bereavement) through the Association of Death Education and Counseling. I am also certified in Death and Grief Studies by the Center For Loss and Life Transition and Colorado State University. My work with married couples has been enriched by being trained and certified as a facilitator for marital and premarital counseling through the Prepare and Enrich program.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I understand the difficulties in making the decision to reach out for help through therapy, especially if this is your first time. I will work to provide you an experience where you will feel comfortable to share what you need to share and to work together to meet your needs and goals in counseling. I will work toward making counseling a positive experience for you.
