Grief can take over everything in your life. One moment you may feel angry, sad, confused, overwhelmed, or even grateful all in the same minute. Being in the moment can feel impossible. There is just too much to do, too much in the past, too much in the future that begs for our attention. Mindfulness based therapy seeks to improve our experience here and now, and allow us to be "present" today. I call this a "bit of a Berkeley" approach to therapy :), but if you are open to practicing these skills it can improve symptoms of anxiety, panic, fear, and sadness. I utilize grounding skills and guided imagery to help you cope with the unknown.

Interpersonal therapy is the ability for therapist to understand the client in the context they come from, rather than a "what's wrong with you" approach that psychodynamic (Freud) therapy uses. I believe you have the strength and ability to heal with just a little guidance and understanding. This type of therapy seeks to heal your interpersonal relationships in order to reduce your symptoms. This can be done through boundary setting, understanding self and your own experiences.

EMDR is proven affective for working through traumatic experiences including abuse, grief, anxiety, and more. EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING is what it stands for, and slowly we will develop a safe way to approach your traumatic experiences and reconnect to those parts of yourself that you have worked to hide from the world. It uses a combination of imagery, breathing, and bilateral stimulation to process the pain you have experienced.
