About My Clients
Do you want to build a better life, let go of things that no longer help you, and finally be at peace? Perhaps, you need help getting through a difficult illness of your own or your loved one? You don't have to suffer in silence. There are many ways to get out of a situation, and I can help adults and seniors who feel stuck.
My Background and Approach
My professional experience includes medical and psychiatric social work, casework with homeless youth and survivors of domestic violence. I find that most of my clients had traumatic experiences or difficult upbringings that put them in an eternal survival mode with tunnel vision, hijacking thoughts & unproductive actions. Using bottom-up mind-body connection techniques early in therapy usually helps to tolerate uncomfortable feelings without becoming overwhelmed; then, we start working on analyzing & changing thoughts & behaviors. Besides cognitive therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and solution-focused therapy, I rely on trauma-sensitive somatic modalities. With 8 years of teaching at Rutgers University, I bring the latest evidence-based research and practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that humanity has an enormous capacity for change, love, and healing. In therapy, alongside my clients, I often discover that people are stronger than they thought and realize that we've always had those ruby red slippers on to take us to the place we belong.
